Is Thomas Beattie Really a Pregnant Man?

The Pregnant man, Thomas Beatie, along with his wife Nancy interviewed with Oprah Winfrey. As they shared there story, the audience as well as the world discovered that he is really a "she" altered to become a man. Thomas and his wife decided that "he" would keep his internal female organs to allow them to conceive a child together, since Nance is not able to because of a hysterectomy. No matter what your thoughts are, you must admit, a pregnant man isn't something you hear about everyday much less see.

After all of the publicity of this particular "Pregnant Man", we now all realize this is not a male who is "with child". The reason that it is possible for this person to conceive was because they were born a female and still have retained their female reproductive organs. Why is it so shocking that he is a pregnant man. So, why would someone who wants to be seen as male get pregnant? Simply because of the desire to share a child with his spouse who is unable to conceive. We also learn that he stopped testosterone before the pregnancy in order to assure his chance to get pregnant. So bottom line, this isn't a man that is pregnant but merely a woman who lives on the outside as male but everything on the inside of her is female.

To sum it up, she was born a woman and was altered physically on the outside, but remained the same inside. If you go to several sites online you will read similar buzz around the net:

Thomas Beatie, 34, of Oregon, is married to a naturally born woman. He is due to give birth to a baby girl on July 3 and he was once pregnant before with triplets but lost both them and one of is his fallopian tubes. When he stripped off for the cameras and bared his pregnant stomach and also revealed pictures from his beauty queen days as a young woman both the Oprah Show audience and the world was shocked and intrigued.

It is understandable why some people find the idea of a pregnant man disturbing. It is a little hard for most to wrap there mind around this concept. When the previews aired for the Oprah Winfrey show, most people were wondering, was this just another "pregnant man" scam like all the others that have aired in the news media over the years or is this truly possible. Or do we really care?
